Avukana Buddha

A few kilometers to the South from the sacred city of Anuradhapura, there is a magnificent statue of Aukana Buddha. This 13 meters high statue is carved from the solid stone in the V century B.C. The Aukana Statue is one of the biggest sculptures of Buddha ever erected in Sri Lanka. It is also a pilgrimage place of Buddhusts and a famous tourist destination.
