Safari Parks

Safari Parks are located in different parts of the island. Each of them is very interesting. The most known is Safari Park Yala, where you can find leopards, crocodiles, wild elephants, spotted deer, wild boars, buffaloes, jackals, varans, monkeys and about 130 species of birds. This is not yet a complete list of the treasures of Sri Lanka’s largest National Park of Yala, which is visited by jeeps.
Yala is a natural habitat for animals.
The gateway to Yala National Park is Tissamaharama. A 20 km drive via Kirinda takes the visitors to the Palatupana.
Yala National Park that consists of five blocks is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. Though Yala spreads over an area of 1260 square kilometers, only one fifth of the area is open to the visitors. Four-fifths of the park is a strictly designated Natural Reserve. Adjoining the eastern border of the park is Kumana.

Safari parks: Mineria, Wagamuwa, Kaudula.
In those three parks a migration of wild elephants takes place. The parks are located close to each other in the region of Habbarana. In addition to a substantial population of elephants, here you can meet the largest population of various birds in Sri Lanka. Also in these places there are macaques, reptiles, more than 17 species of fish. The huge thickets of various trees and shrubs serve as food for elephants.
Sri Lanka is among the top three places on the globe according to the level of biological diversity. Few where else on Earth, you can see such a huge number of diverse animals.
Safari in these parks is also carried out in jeeps.
